Storyboard for spinning top (project 1)

Written description (project 1)

Spinning Top
For my first project I am planning to make a spinning top, which will reflect the light. I’ve god inspired for this product by a kid, I saw when I was walking back home on Cuba street after the lecture. A little girl was playing with mirror, letting sunbeam on his mom’s face. On the tutorial on Friday I saw the spinning top and thought “May be I should connect those two objects together.”

So I started thinking of how am I going to make a reflecting spinning top and what materials I am going to use. As I found it quite hard to cut real mirror myself I have desided on using soft mirror. In addition I will use Chineese chopstick for the axis, and a black cardboard for the wheel itself.  I am going to make a three layers spinning top which will include cardboard top layer with carved patterns on it, second mirror layer, and third cardboard layer  which will make my spinning top heavier so it will be easier to spin it and it will spin longer.

3.Finally I've tried it out with coloured lights, using christmas lights.

2. Then I added some more sections to my spinning top and developed the pattern, so it improved the contrast between bright and dark sections.

Spinning top development (how it works)

1. First I tried how my spinning top is going to reflect the light. I used a usual flashlight as a sourse of light.

News 1

CollectingContemporary

I found this news interestind because I like contemporary art. I find it quite creative and unusual. In my opinion, to understand that kind of art, people who it is aimed to have to be creative themselve, as well as they have to be able to see the world from different angel and points of view. As I am goin to become a designer, I suppose, that kind of exibition will be really good and useful to visit. Also I might find it very amazing because contemporary art is a subject of my own interest. In addition this exhibition has a free entry which is good for students and gives a chance to enjoy art without spending.
